CUAAHK CNY Lantau Big Buddha Hike

Date: Saturday, February 16, 2019
Time: 9:30am ~ 2:30pm (including optional lunch)

This is a moderate hike (with a considerable portion going uphill) from Shek Fun Kap village to the base of the Big Buddha in Lantau. The hike will take approximately 2 hours, and we will pass veggie paddies, monasteries, and the Chinese wooden tablets of wisdom (心經簡林) along the way. The hike will conclude with an optional vegetarian lunch prepared at the Po Lin Monastery.

Meeting Time: 9:30am
Meeting Location: Tung Chung MTR Exit B

We will be taking mini bus 34 together from the Tung Chung bus terminal. The bus will take us to Shek Mun Kap village 石門角, where we will begin our hike.

Other Notes

Please wear comfortable hiking shoes and appropriate outdoor gear. Don’t forget to bring plentiful water and snacks.

As a considerable portion of the hike is an uphill trek, we do not recommend bringing strollers or children under 7 years old.

Please also keep close monitor of weather conditions and prepare accordingly.
