In Search of the New International Financial Order
by
Ms. Julia Leung Fung-Yee, SBS -- Keynote Speaker
Dear Fellow Alumni,
The Columbia University Alumni Association (Hong Kong) Limited Annual General Meeting (CUAAHK AGM) will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 6:30pm in the Hong Kong Club. The AGM will be followed by a Keynote Speaker Dinner at 7:30pm. This year, we are honored to have Ms. Julia Leung Fung-Yee, SBS, Executive Director of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) and a MS graduate of Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, as our Guest of Honor.
From Brexit to rise of Donald Trump, politicians have tapped into the deep anger of those who are left behind in the globalisation of trade and finance guided by three decades of economic liberalism. Since the 1980s, political establishments of the US, Europe and IMF have embraced global capitalism and emphasis on financial deregulation and market forces and prescribed them to Asia as the blueprint for growth. In her remarks, Julia Leung will discuss the dangers of unfettered capital flows, how that had led to the Asian and global financial crises, and how Asian economies surmounted those crisis to find their own path to economic development.
Please register for the event as soon as possible, as seats are limited.
