Developed in the 1800s in China, Mahjong has been one of the most common pastimes in Asia and around the world. Not only is it beloved for the mental workout, but also the shared sense of community that comes from playing. Fun fact: watch this video of Julia Roberts explaining why Mahjong is her hobby!
Either you are a beginner trying to learn how to play, or you are already a guru looking for a friendly competition, join us for a fun Sunday afternoon with Columbia and UPenn alumni to play at the exclusive Ladies Recreation Club!
Event Details:
Date & Time: Sunday 4th August 3:00-6:30pm
- All levels are welcome! We will form player groups onsite for you based on your indicated level.
- We will spend the first 10-15 minutes to recap the basic rules. If you don’t have any prior experience, you are encouraged to familiar yourself with the basics. (These 2 videos, each of less than 3 minutes, could get you started: Video 1, Video 2)
Location: Ladies Recreation Club, 10 Old Peak Rd, Mid-Levels
Capacity: Max 25 people
Price:
- HK$100 for CUAAHK paid members
- HK$150 for non-CUAAHK paid members
(Club fee, water and tea are all included!)
