Time to get some mileage on that liberal arts degree and join for a night of poetry and drinks. Come compete in Columbia's and Harvard’s first ever Poetry Slam Competition or simply cheer on your fellow alumni. We ask alumni contestants to come read or recite original works, for a time cap of 3 minutes. Performances will be judged and selected by members of the audience. To participate, please contact [email protected] with your name and work to be performed.
Slam Poetry is a type of competition where people read their poems without props, costumes, or music. After performing, they receive scores (0-10) from 5 randomly selected judges. The judges can be anyone: they don't even need to be poets! Scores are awarded based on how much each judge likes a poem.
