Geopark Boat Trip in Lai Chi Wo & Ap Chau

Please join us and your fellow alumni for an educational boat trip to learn about HK’s unique Geopark in Lai Chi Wo & Ap Chau. Children/small pets friendly and family welcome. 

You can enjoy the breathtaking coastal scenery of the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark from the comfort of a private boat, where you can learn HK’s geological history and the formation of acidic rhyolite volcanic rock features from certified Geopark R2G guides. You can find out the only two sea-based reservoirs anywhere in the world, the little-known pearl fishing industry that once thrived in HK, and the best preserved ancient Hakka village in HK.  While you spend the most time on the boat, there will be flat hiking when we land on the islands. Please note this is NOT the type of junk trip or speed boating where you can have skate-board or go into water – we will not go into water for safety reasons and appreciate your understanding.

The trip will be guided by certified Geopark R2G guides in English/Cantonese. Bus will be arranged to depart from Wanchai at 8:30 am to Ma Liu Shui to board a boat. We will finish the boat trip at 1:30 pm in Ma Liu Shui, and you have the option to depart there or join the bus to Wanchai where we have arranged a venue for a late lunch. Snacks will be provided on the boat.

Event Details

Date: Saturday, 22 October 2022

Time: 8:30 am - 1:30 pm OR 3:30pm

• 8:30 am  Meet at Wanchai (Wu Chung House) to take a bus to Ma Liu Shui.
• 1:30 pm  Department from Ma Liu Shui. After the boat trip, you can depart from Ma Liu Shui at 1:30 pm or join the bus to return to Wanchai where we can have a light lunch together, and end the whole tour by 3:30 pm.

Fee:

• HK$385 per head for CUAAHK member and children
• HK$485 per head for non-CUAAHK member

Capacity: Space on tour is limited to 50 people. Family /friends/ children are welcome.

RSVP: Please RSVP on this site by Sunday, 9 October with full payment. A full vaccination record is required prior to departure per HKSAR Government requirements and for travel insurance purpose.
