2015 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism + Architecture / SZ and HK

The Bi-City Biennale, in its 6th installment, will be opening in Hong Kong and Shenzhen in December. It is the only Biennale in the world that focuses exclusively on urbanism and urbanization. This year, the Shenzhen section titled "Re-living the city", curated by Aaron Betsky, Alfredo Brillembourg, Hurbert Klumpner and Doreen Heng Liu, will be opening on December 4th; while the Hong Kong section titled "Visions 2050: Lifestyle and the City", curated by a team led by Christine Hawley, will be opening on December 11th.

Exhibition

Visit Studio-X Beijing and Asia Megacities Lab at the 2015 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism + Architecture (UABB) in Shenzhen. The exhibition, directed by Jeffrey Johnson in collaboration with GSAPP alumni Jiteng Yang and Stephen Chou, highlights ongoing Asia Megacities Lab/GSAPP research on large-scale superblock development in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.

Public Realm: A Proposal to Pedestrianize Des Voeux Road Central

Exhibition

View the Studio-X Beijing and University of Hong Kong's collaborative project Breathing Life into the Public Realm: A Proposal to Pedestrianize Des Voeux Road Central exhibited at the 2015 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism + Architecture (UABB) in Hong Kong. Commissioned by the DVRC Initiative, a nonprofit coalition of civic and other organisations advocating for the transformation of Des Voeux Road Cental into a pedestrian and tram precinct, this project investigates strategies for creating a new type of linear, catalytic public space in Hong Kong. 

The project is directed by Jeffrey Johnson, Studio-X BJ/GSAPP and Eric Scholdenfrei, HKU.
